Chrysler Recalls 24,000 Vehicles

Chrysler Corporation and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration announced today the recall of almost 24,000 vehicles due to a defective part that causes the brakes to fail. The recall includes some 2010 model Chrysler Sebrings and Dodge Avenger sedans, Dodge Nitro and Jeep Liberty SUV’s, Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee SUV’s, and some 2009 and 2010 Ram trucks. A defective brake clip is the cause of the problem. No accidents have been reported yet. The repair will fixed free of charge.

There is just something about going to a car dealership that people don’t like. It could be the salesmen standing in the window waiting to pounce on anyone who steps foot on the property. I heard on the news that the Chrysler Corporation said they were issuing a recall on my new car for defective brakes. I immediately shuttered because it wasn’t my car, it was my wife’s car. I immediately imagined what would happen if she had brake problems. Chryslers were safe cars but this was a brake problem and I needed to get it fixed quickly. We had just bought a 2010 Chrysler Sebring, a nice mid-range car that we got a great deal on because of Chryslers financial problems.

I knew I would have to take the car in for the recall work and called for an appointment. To my surprise, the service manager said he would get me right in and the repair would only take about an hour. Sure, I thought, I’ll probably be there all day. My wife took my truck to get to work and I headed for the dealership. I called my boss and told him I would be to work a little late, I hoped. I figured they would use this opportunity to sell me something I didn’t need. I was suspicious.
